Cool and comfortable, the Merrell Moab Mid GTX XCR Men’s Lite-Hiking Boots is the perfect hiking boot for hot summer days. While the boots are breathable and fight odours for drier, fresher feet, they provide ample protection from rain and puddles with waterproof outers and a GORE-TEX® membrane. The compression moulded footbed conforms to your foot to keep you supported on the trail, and the caps on the toe and heel reduce abrasions to help the boots last.

Features:

  • Leather and mesh uppers are waterproof to keep water out but breathable to let air in so your feet stay dry and cool
  • Bellows tongue limits the amount of debris that gets inside your shoes
  • Synthetic caps on the toe and heel protect your foot and improve durability
  • GORE-TEX® allows sweat to evaporate while blocking water
  • M-SELECT reduces foot odours to promote fresher feet
  • Moulded nylon shank stabilises and protects your arch
  • Merrell air cushion protects your heels by absorbing shocks
  • Footframe made of compression moulded EVA foam cushions your foot for all-day comfort

Specifications:

  • Upper: Dura Leather / Mesh
  • Lug depth: 5 mm

Good for Mountain Day Hikes

Goodbrew Grande Cache, AB June 04, 2014
I can't comment on durability as I haven't had them very long, but I've hiked up a few mountains in the area, and they work very well for that. Excellent grip and very light weight. Fits well, broke in quickly. The Goretex waterproofing works excellent. I was able to trudge through mud and puddles without getting my feet wet. But it also heats up quickly due to less breathability. We have a cooler climate here, especially as you go up higher on the mountains, so it is not a problem, but I would not recommend the shoes for hiking in hot places.
Pros:
Comfortable, Lightweight, Great Traction
Cons:
none

Merrel does it again

Colonel Orillia, ON May 03, 2014
I only recently bought these for the approaching summer season, and have not yet used them in the bush. However, after many years of hiking and going through boots, I'm quite satisfied that these boots will stand up to the oncoming punishment. As far as I'm concerned there is no break in time for these boots, they were comfortable going on. I also have fairly wide feet and the boots do not squeeze, nor does the heel of my foot move around in the boot, it stays seated. I'm a firm believer in not going it cheap on a pair of footwear that will be getting a lot of use and these boots don't break the bank for the quality.
Pros:
Comfortable, Ankle Support, Stable, Lightweight, Arch Support, Pronation Control, Good Cushioning, Great Traction, Durable
Cons:
none
