Lightwieght and functional

Mountain Explorer Red Deer April 12, 2017
I recently used this jacket for the first time (I also got it on sale). I used it during a three day backpacking trip by Nordegg during the beginning of April, 2017. I pulled it out and used it during the ascent to Allstones Lake. The weather moved in quickly and there was constant snow/sleet throughout the rest of the ascent to the lake (4+ hrs.). The temperature was about -2C. The jacket performed well and kept me dry. I wore a heavy-weight merino wool long sleeve shirt underneath the jacket, which I found to be a great combo for the ascent. I operated the pit-zips on the jacket which helped because we each carried about 40-50lbs of gear in and the ascent is quite steep so I was curious to see how well the jacket breathed. I did not get sweaty at all. Once we arrived at camp I had to work hard to shovel about 30+cm of snow off our tenting sites and I still did not sweat during the heavy shovelling process. I look forward to other opportunities to try this jacket - so far so good.
